Doing The Thing with Death

Hello,                                                                                                   November 4, 2010

Our next door neighbor died this morning. He was about my age.
We have been imperfect but caring neighbors back and forth for 14 years.

After I heard the news, my brain said, "Don't bother them right now, go about your day."
So, for a minute I did that, until my heart spoke up and I listened to it.

I walked through this neighbor's open door. His widow, teen son and I hugged and cried.

Then the most unexpected happened. I was allowed to say "goodbye" to HIM.
As I did, I looked at his grieving son and realized that I was about this boys age when my
father died. I wasn't able to say goodbye to him like this. And, I wasn't able to grieve.

And so today I Did The Thing with death by following my heart and found that doing so
helps everyone in the process.

Do The Thing with Love,
Dana
