Doing The Thing with Holiday Stress

Greetings!

Tis the season to be happy (downright jolly), peaceful, and especially giving.

High expectations can be hard to handle. Internal pressure to be all this, can result in the opposite.

Let's use me as an example...

Am I walking my talk lately? Am I Doing The Thing lately?      No!
Am I feeling the resulting pain, frustration and stress?            Yes!

Here's  what this looks like for me: frustration, body tension, facial stress marks, scattered feeling, insecurity,
sometimes pure fear, fuzzy thinking (cotton-headed-ninny-muggins), doubting myself in general.

Can you relate to any of this for yourself?  What does your pressure look like?

Not much creative productivity happens in this state...not much peace, love, good will.

What a perfect opportunity to Do The Thing. Let's review.
As we read in the book, "In the airplane of life, Doing The Thing means putting your oxygen mask on first
before helping others with theirs and expanding this concept to a daily attitude".

How do we do this, and what does it look like to Do The Thing?
Here's what works for me:
I find a quiet moment to sit or lay down and breathe.
I stop thinking and start feeling my body.
I gently remind myself that I am complete, safe and loved.
{We all have this core of well-being within, even though we may not always feel it.}
I sink into this feeling of well-being with as much faith as possible. This builds an endurance
in trusting that I have what I need and I don't have to go searching the world for anything.

When I feel complete (not needy), I am much happier, healthier, and more giving to others.
When I love me more, I love you, and my world more.
Let's remember to give to ourselves first, so we are full.

Love,
Dana
