Doing The Thing with Giving & Receiving

Welcome!                                                                                                    April 19th, 2011

The topic of giving and receiving is important and stimulating.
Giving and receiving pushes our buttons, even if it is just with a compliment.

Most of us know the saying, 'It is better to give than to receive.'
Most people pride themselves on being good at giving to others.
I am challenging us to get better at doing both, starting with ourselves.

Here is a valuable lesson I learned about Doing The Thing with giving and receiving.
{ DTT with giving and receiving means starting with yourself. }

I was pretty good at giving to myself. I know the importance of self-love that includes adding
value to myself by feeding and nurturing my body and soul. The most important thing we
can give ourselves is unconditional love.

Okay, that seemed fine, but something was missing. After giving to myself the things of value
I needed or wanted, I still felt longing.

The surprising missing piece was that even though I was giving to myself...I was not receiving what I'd been giving. That's why I was unsatisfied and longing.

I believe the reason I was not receiving what I was giving to myself has to do with a big topic
we touched on recently: Worthiness.

Do I deserve to receive all the amazing things I have to give, like unconditional love, non-judgment, approval, encouragement, success in the form of abundant health, wealth and
enriching relationships?

These are the things I want. And, I was unwittingly keeping them from myself by feeling non-
deserving. As I learn to relax into myself and appreciate who I really am, I understand my worth. This brings a feeling of relief that guides me. As I allow myself to receive what I give,
instead of longing, I'm at peace and the things I want are showing up.

Happily Ever After starts when we learn to give to ourselves the things that really count
and allow ourselves to receive what we are giving.

Do The Thing with Love,
Dana
